  • The roll of paper around the coffee cup is called a "sleeve" or a "coffee cup sleeve." Sometimes, it's also called a " cup sleeve" or "cup jacket." Its purpose is exactly as you described—to protect your hand from the heat of the hot coffee cup.

  • A combo (short for combination meal) is a set meal offered at many fast food restaurants. It usually includes a main item (like a burger, sandwich, or wrap), a side (such as fries or onion rings), and a drink. Combos are often sold at a discounted price compared to ordering each item separately, making them a popular choice for a full meal. For example,Burger Combo(A cheeseburger, medium fries, and a soda)

  • I have a white polo shirt; it is not a T-shirt. A polo shirt has a collar with 2–3 buttons at the neck, while a T-shirt has no collar and usually features a round (crew) or V-neck.

  • On hot summer days, people like to wear a singlet because it's comfortable and provides good ventilation. But I don’t like to wear a singlet because it exposes your armpits to the public when you lift your arms. It might smell if you sweat a lot, and the body odor can become too strong.

  • Recently, my child has been learning multiplication in second grade. Today, while I was tutoring him with his math homework, we came across this question: 'Tom is planting a tree every 9 meters. How long will the distance be when he has planted 7 trees?' My child thought for a while and said the answer is 63 meters. Clearly, that answer is not correct because the distance should only count the spaces between the trees, not the number of trees multiplied by 9. I wanted him to find the pattern himself, so I suggested drawing a graph. I asked him to imagine planting trees from 1 to 3, then write down the equations for each step, so he could observe the pattern and understand the concept better.Although the result seems simple, it took us an hour to try and solve the problem. I eventually got very frustrated and gave him a spanking, but he still didn’t understand it. I think I pushed him too hard. I know that in a year or two, he will easily understand this kind of question as he grows and matures.

  • every child learns at their own pace, and patience is key.

  • The morning rush hour was in full swing, with cars honking and people bustling about. As I made my way to school with my child, I noticed a man riding an electric scooter just ahead of me. On the backseat sat his son, his small backpack securely fastened to his shoulders. They were on their way to school, just like many of us in the crowd. As they waited at the pedestrian crossing for the traffic light to turn green, the noise and movement around them filled the air with chaos. The moment the light changed, the man started across the street. But just as he moved forward, the thermos—carefully packed in his son’s backpack—slipped out and fell onto the pavement with a muted thud. Neither the man nor his son noticed it, but someone in the crowd behind them called out to alert him. By the time he turned his head to check, he had already crossed to the other side of the street. He stopped there, glancing back at the thermos lying on the road. For a moment, he seemed to hesitate, perhaps considering whether he could safely return to retrieve it. But as the traffic light turned red and cars began streaming by, the chance was gone. He stood there briefly, then decided to keep moving, leaving the thermos behind. Later, as I retraced my route, I saw the thermos again. It had been flattened by the passing cars, reduced to a broken and unrecognizable piece of metal. It seemed unlikely the man would come back for it, especially now that it was beyond repair.

  • Being a software engineer, I spent a lot of time in front of computers, leading to dry eyes for about two years. Despite numerous hospital visits and various eye check-ups, all results indicated that the eyes were fine, which was frustrating because the discomfort persisted. Eventually, I discovered that taking lutein was helpful. However, after accidentally exposing a bottle of lutein to sunlight, its effectiveness seemed to decrease. To ensure the effectiveness of lutein supplements, it's important to store them in a cool, dark place, away from moisture, follow the recommended dosage
